Producer: Domaine Arlaud
Domaine Arlaud began with a love story: a man from the Ardèche (Joseph Arlaud) and a woman from Burgundy (Renée Amiot) met and fell in love during World War II. When they married shortly thereafter, her family gifted the couple with some of the choicest parcels of land in the Côte-de-Nuits as part of her ‘dot’ (dowry). The estate is now run by their grandson, Cyprien Arlaud, who led the estate’s conversion to biodynamics. Roncevie is a lieu-dit that until 1964 was part of Gevrey-Chambertin and was only de-classified due to political reasons in the appellation. The wine needs to breathe for an hour or so, but once it does, it reveals dark, brambly fruits, spice and earthy aromas.
Food pairing: Roast lamb with all the trimmings
