Producer: Domaine de La Begude
Domaine de la Begude is a picturesque estate in Provence’s acclaimed Bandol region with original plantings dating back to the 18th Century. Respect of the environment is the core value of Domaine de la Begude; they take a low intervention approach from vine to bottle, are certified organic, and use many biodynamic practices as well. La Brulade is their top vineyard, with the oldest vines and the best soils and exposure.
A blend of 95% Mourvèdre and 5% Grenache, dark fruit aromas dominate the nose, with spice and cedar on the palate, firm tannins, fresh acidity, and a lengthy finish. Enjoyable now, but easily a wine to be kept for 5-10 years.
Food pairing: a grilled T-bone steak, seasoned simply with rock salt
